Epiphany Episcopal Church

Day Care Program

WELCOME!

Since 1981 Epiphany has been a non-profit, child development center committed to offering a warm, loving and well-structured program, where children feel safe, relaxed in a creative atmosphere and where parents feel comfortable leaving their children.

We offer a pre-school program to 2, 3 and 4 (pre-kindergarten) year old children, 2, 3, 4 or 5 days per week year round. Epiphany Day Care Center is Licensed by the Maryland State Department of Human Resources.

PHILOSOPHY

Epiphany Day Care Center strives to provide a relaxed, caring, and creative atmosphere where young children may enjoy friendships and learn through playing, listening, and participating.

It is our goal for each child to develop a healthy self-image and to enjoy his/her school experience.

We want parents to feel comfortable entrusting so large a portion of their child's day to us.

Nurturing of the child is carried out by meeting all needs - physical, emotional, spiritual, and intellectual.

PROGRAM

Epiphany Day Care Center's program is designed to meet each child's needs: physical, emotional, spiritual, and intellectual. It is our goal to nurture human values and a love of learning which stimulates curiosity about the world around us. Children are born with the basic tools for learning, and through a play based and developmentally appropriate curriculum, learn how to use these tools effectively.

Children learn through every fiber of their being, every moment of the day. With this in mind, we set the stage carefully for a knowledge gathering expedition. Equipment is carefully selected and arranged in learning centers in the classrooms. Activities and well-planned units are developed. These units are child interest centered and incorporate skill development in all curriculum areas. The program is designed to expand the child's understanding and curiosity, increase cognitive and motor skills, and encourage creativity and a love of learning in a developmentally appropriate fashion. The aim of the program is to engage each child in a variety of experiences through dramatic play, blocks, paint, clay, sand, puppets, music, creative movement, manipulatives and much more. Combined with quiet times for stories, books in quiet corners, and puzzles which will lay foundations in all areas, developing the skills that lead to the mastery of reading, writing, and math as well as building happy peer relationships. In essence, our goal is to help children learn how to learn.
